Since the official inception of Black History Month in 1976, there have been annual celebrations across the country recognizing the achievements of African Americans. From schools curating Black history lectures, to businesses offering themed meals and activities, to brands creating limited edition items and other content for consumers, organizations have found creative ways to mark the occasion and make it fun and educational for consumers.
This year, Apple stands out in its approach to marking the occasion. It has created content across its many platforms, including the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Podcasts, Apple Books and much more.

For the next month, users can view, listen to, and watch content spotlighting Black achievements. In the App Store, the Black History Month Hub holds a variety of apps by Black-owned businesses and developers. On Apple Music, there is a month-long showcase of Black musicians across all genres. According to Apple’s website, the programming also features playlists, essays, videos and more from Black entertainers, including Naomi Campbell, Common, John Legend and more.
The experience doesn’t stop there, Apple utilizes Apple TV, Apple News, and Apple Books to highlight a variety of incredible books, essential news stories, and shows and movies that explore the Black experience in America. In conjunction with the virtual content, Apple also launched the Black Unity Collection, with includes a limited-edition Apple Watch Series 6, the Black Unity Sport Band, and a Unity watch face.
