Sacramento, Calif.-based Raley’s has opened Raley’s O-N-E Market, its first supermarket featuring what management describes as “a highly curated assortment of products that are fresh, nutritious, organic when possible, minimally processed and sustainably sourced.”

Opened in Truckee, Calif., in June, the 35,000-square-foot store was designed to reinforce Raley’s brand strategy focused on organics, nutrition and education.

“It has become increasingly clear that our customers want to know where their food comes from, what’s in it and how it may impact their overall health and wellness,” says Keith Knopf, Raley’s president and CEO.

Items on the shelves are carefully selected to exclude ingredients from Raley’s banned ingredient list, such as high fructose corn syrup, artificial preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners and hydrogenated fats and oils.

Designed to resemble a ski lodge to fit the community known for its focus on outdoor activities, the store has a patio on each floor with outdoor seating and a fireplace. It also has a café with coffee, specialty toasts and an organic juice bar serving fresh pressed juices, wellness shots, smoothies and acai bowls. The loft includes a beer and wine bar offering local craft brews, curated wines and chef-created bar bites.

In-store tours and classes, personalized nutrition counseling and supplement recommendations are offered by a full-time nutrition advisor and registered dietitian.
