The holiday season is the most important time of year for retailers; with less than a week until Small Business Saturday, no one knows this more than independent businesses. These small retailers from across the country share how they will be celebrating with their community on November 26.

Princeton Record Exchange, one of New Jersey’s leading independent record stores since 1980, will decorate the store in regalia and offer limited-edition vinyl records you can only find in a store like theirs.

“It’s a day that recognizes the little guy in a big world of retailers.”

“It’s an opportunity for independent retailers to start the holiday shopping season with a bang,” says Michele Holbrook, owner of Michele’s Sweet Shoppe in Londonderry, N.H. Customers will be greeted with in-store tastings, special deals and a raffle offering goodies from other local small businesses in 10 “Shop Small” totes.

In addition to celebrating with in-store deals, giveaways and treats, The Brass Owl will take part in a 17-store “retail crawl” in Astoria, N.Y. Customers who shop at eight or more of the independently owned stores will be entered to win a grand prize from each small business. “It’s a great way to thank the community and rally everyone to continue to support local,” says owner Nicole Panettieri.
