Build relationships with top retail law experts through NRF

NRF offers best-in-class opportunities to learn best practices and connect with peers in the industry
Director, Social Media & Digital Communications

As new risks arise and legal liabilities increase for the retail industry, NRF is providing retail law professionals with best-in-class opportunities to gain expert insights, network with each other and learn best practices on advising and protecting their organizations. Through NRF in-person events, online programming and more, professionals learn how to tackle the most pressing legal and regulatory issues facing companies across the retail spectrum.

Resources

NRF’s Litigation Risk Trackers are widely used by retail law leaders to get ahead of the curve. These tools track some of the most high-risk legal cases filed against retailers weekly. In addition to timely litigation information, NRF is a go-to source for legal and law-related webinars featuring leading legal minds offering practical advice on hot topics in retail such as artificial intelligence, regulatory developments and cybersecurity.

Events and networking

Law and risk professionals also leverage opportunities like the NRF Retail Law Summit, a free virtual event for retail in-house attorneys, risk and compliance officers, HR and other professionals who counsel their organizations on law-related matters. This year, more than 700 leaders gathered to discuss topics in retail tech, consumer protection and workplace issues. Legal experts from Macy’s, J.Crew and some of the nation’s top law firms presented and most sessions were CLE and SHRM credit-eligible.

The General Counsels Forum convenes NRF members to share strategies and ideas for addressing issues most top of mind for retail’s chief legal officers. The forum is open exclusively to the most senior legal officers among NRF’s retail membership.

Upcoming events

The inaugural CA Retail Law Summit, an upcoming in-person event developed by NRF in partnership with the California Retailers Association, will convene retail general counsels and their direct reports as well as other retail in-house counsel to discuss the latest legal developments impacting retailers operating in California. Join us October 2 at the Irvine Marriott in California for this unique program designed specifically to help retailers get ahead of California’s trendsetting legal landscape.

NRF and CRA members and nonmembers will gather with legal experts to discuss and dive deep on a variety of issues impacting the retail industry in California, including litigation threats, privacy, labor and employment matters, Cal/OSHA and more. Attendees will also receive exclusive updates on California’s legislative and regulatory environment.

Directly after the summit, NRF and CRA will jointly host a networking reception featuring Tani Gorre Cantil-Sakauye, president of the Public Policy Institute of California and former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California.
