Qurate Retail, Inc.'s Mike George on the evolving state of retail

VP, Communications and Public Affairs

Following his election to chairman of the NRF Board of Directors, Qurate Retail, Inc. President and CEO Mike George took the stage at NRF 2020 Vision: Retail's Big Show to describe the evolving state of retail.

“We're clear-eyed about the pace of technology change and disruption. ... And yet amidst all this change and challenge, the much-anticipated, much-hyped retail apocalypse never arrived. It was a no-show," George said. "Ninety-eight percent of retailers are small businesses in towns and cities across the country, deeply entrenched in their community, playing a much bigger role than just selling stuff. We've been given this precious gift — this gift to be able to uplift and inspire millions of consumers and millions of team members every single day.”
